This week’s meditation is Luke 6:27-28
27 “But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.
Lord Jesus, this is a tough command you have given us. We often pray for those we love and for those people we know who ask for our prayers, but how often do we turn around and pray for our enemies? This goes beyond praying for someone you have a difference of opinion with, but for those that seek to do us harm, or those who oppose us.
How often do we pray for those who wrong us? How often do we pray for people we are in competition with? But yet, you gave us the example to live by when Jesus asked for forgiveness for those who nailed him to the cross. This is the type of prayer and forgiveness we are also supposed to show, but it is so hard.
Lord please open our hearts and our minds to love and forgive even our enemies the way you forgave those who trespassed against you.
Amen
