Monday Meditation: 1 Peter 2:24

This week we meditate on 1 Peter 2:24:

24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

Lord, what an amazing God you are! The sacrifice you made for our sins is remarkable, and the depth of your love knows no bounds.

We could not live up to your holiness so you sent Jesus down to earth to humble himself as a man, and to take the punishment we deserve. You paid the price we could not pay. This type of sacrificial love is unfathomable, and yet Jesus called us to love others as he loved us.

Lord, we did not deserve this sacrifice, and there is nothing we can do to earn this sacrifice. It is only through your grace and mercy that we have been saved.

Lord, I know that my debt has been paid, and I know I can never live up to your holiness. But Lord I pray that every day I might grow closer to being the man you want me to be. I pray that every day I will grow closer to being the man your son taught me to be.

I ask this in the name of your son, Jesus Christ.

Amen
