This week’s meditation is on Isaiah 41:13:
For I, the Lord your God,
hold your right hand;
it is I who say to you, “Fear not,
I am the one who helps you.” (ESV)
Dear God in Heaven, I know that you walk with me wherever I go, and I know that you are always with me to guide me and to keep straight my path. Lord, when I needed you the most you pulled me out of the darkness and guided me through still waters.
I try to remind myself of that everyday so that I will never take it for granted.
But reading this verse today I was struck by how powerful and intimate it seemed to me. Not only are you there with me and guiding my way, but you are holding my hand while we walk through this path.
You hold my hand like a father holds the hand of his son, guiding me and keeping me from danger, and you will not let go. We go together hand in hand, how can I be afraid of anything knowing you are the one who helps me?
And yet sometimes the worries of this world and the stresses of work can cause me to forget. It is during these times that I must remember you have me by the hand and nobody can harm me. God I pray that when I begin to falter and I begin to struggle that I will turn to you and proclaim your name and your glory.
I pray this in your son’s precious and sacred name. Amen.
