Monday Meditation: Ephesians 4:31-32

This week’s meditation is on Ephesians 4:31-32:

31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. (ESV)

Lord, as we begin the new year I can’t help but see all of the bitterness, and the wrath, and the anger in the country today. I can’t help but to hear the clamor and the slander and I wonder if it will ever end.

There is just so much envy and malice today, no longer can people simply and civilly disagree on issues, they must fight and prove they are right. There is no longer any room for compromise or even for just plain listening to others in an attempt to understand their viewpoint.

Everything is uncivil, and I can’t help but think about how much the world needs you right now, and how most of the world has forgotten about you. Lord, I pray that in this upcoming year there will be a revival, a longing in people for something beyond themselves. I pray that people will begin to look toward you for the answers they are seeking in earthly desires.

Lord, I pray that somehow people will open their heart to you, and this coming year will be the beginning of a renewal of the spirit. Lord, I am praying for a bountiful harvest in your name.

Amen
