This week’s meditation is on Acts 5:29:
29 But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men.
Lord, this week we are looking at such a simple verse. So simple, and yet so hard at times to obey. We know we should always obey your will, and do what we know is good and perfect in your eyes, but sometimes we lose focus.
When the pressures from the world bear down upon us we sometimes give into the temptation of man’s will and do what we know is wrong. Lord, we know that this has been a problem for many people over the years. Even Paul struggled with this at times, in Romans he tells us he does what he does not want to do. This does not excuse our actions, but it shows us how patient you have been with us. And it gives me hope that if Paul can change then so can I.
Dear Lord, I pray that when I am tempted I will use the moment as an opportunity to spread the Gospel. I pray that I will turn from sin and use my strength to glorify your holy name.
I ask this in the precious name of your Son, Jesus.
Amen
