This week’s meditation is on James 1:19:
19 Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;
Dear Lord as I read this verse I can’t help to think that I fail here all too often. I always try to be slow to anger, however oftentimes I speak too quickly. Sometimes I speak before asking myself if what I am about to say is something you would approve of.
But other times Lord, I do pause and say to myself that I shouldn’t say something, and then I go ahead and say it anyway. James warns us about the power of the tongue and how dangerous it can be, and yet at times I still have trouble controlling my words.
Thank you Lord for having so much patience with me and please teach me how to be slow to speak and quick to hear. Help me to remember the words in Ephesians that tell us to use words that build up and not words that corrupt.
Dear God I pray that I will glorify your name in everything I do today and in everything I say.
Amen
