This week’s meditation is on John 15:13:

¹³ Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. (ESV)

Jesus, when you spoke these words you knew that you would be giving up your life for your friends. But it is even greater than that because you gave up your life for those who rejected you, for those who murdered you, and for those of us who were not yet born. You sacrificed so that all might have a chance at eternal life.

You also told us that your friends would obey your commands. So today I come to you with the hope that I will always follow your will, that I will always obey your commands, and that I will always do what is right in your eyes.

Please guide me and direct me. Please correct me when I am wrong. Please help me to be the man you expect me to be. Lord I can never repay the debt that I owe, but I will strive to be more like Jesus every day.

Amen.
