This week’s meditation is on 1 Peter 2:24:
24 He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
Heavenly Father, I am forever grateful for the sacrifice your son made on the Cross. Greater love has no man but to give up his life for his friends. But your sacrifice was even greater than this because Jesus gave up his life for those who would reject him, as well as those who would accept him.
The depth of your abounding love is incomprehensible.
Lord you healed me and you bound up my wounds when I was in despair and yet I am still a sinful man. Lord I want to die to sin and live for righteousness but so often I fall into the same old trap. I let the concerns of this world sometimes overtake me, and I forget to focus on you.
Dear Lord, please help me to be strong and courageous. Please help me to live the righteous life you want me to lead. Lord, give me the strength to die to sin and to become more like your son every day.
I ask this in Jesus’ holy name.
Amen
