Today’s meditation is on 1 John 3:16:

By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.

Heavenly father, out of all you have provided for me and my family over the years, there is no more precious gift than the gift of Jesus Christ. He died so that we might have eternal life. Lord God, this is a gift that was undeserved and yet Jesus did this willingly, knowing that many would reject him.

Lord, we might not be called to lay down our lives, but we are called to spread the word about you to those who don’t know you, so that they might also have eternal life with you.

I thank you and I praise you. Lord, I pray that I will always remember this sacrifice. I pray that I will be able to lead others to you. And I pray that this remembrance will always drive me to live a Christ-centered life.

Amen
