Monday Meditation: Proverbs 4:20-22

Today we meditate on Proverbs 4:20-22:

My son, be attentive to my words;
    incline your ear to my sayings.
21 Let them not escape from your sight;
    keep them within your heart.
22 For they are life to those who find them,
    and healing to all their flesh.

Dear Lord, I keep your words in my heart. I try to be attentive to them all the time, and I try to not let them escape from my sight. But there are times when I know what I should do and yet I fail to do it. Please forgive me for those times when I am not attentive to your words. Please forgive me when the wrong words escape from my mouth.

Your words are life to those who find them, healing all flesh. When I read this last verse it strikes me that most of those around me when I’m working do not have your words in the hearts and if I don’t tell them, who will?

Lord, you have the words of life, and I have the voice to speak them. Please Lord, give me the strength and the opportunity to help those around me to find your words of life.
