This week’s meditation is on Psalm 1:1-2:
Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
Heavenly Father, blessed is the one who avoids the path of the sinners and does not walk with those who do evil. Blessed also is the one who doesn’t join in with the mockers or the scoffers.
Lord, I know that sometimes I join in with the mockers. I know that I join with the sinners. During the course of the week I sometimes forget your ways. Just like Paul, I know what I want to do, but so often I do what I don’t want to do.
Why is that, Lord? Why do I slip? Sometimes I do it knowing it is wrong, while other times I realize it later. Lord, I pray that today, and every day, I will delight in your law. I pray, Lord, that I will not just read, know, and understand your law, but will meditate on it and delight in it.
I ask this in Jesus’ precious name,
Amen
